Rental

We finally turned our van in to get fixed. They say it will take at least a week. UG!! And it looks like the guy that hit our van was driving with stolen plates. No luck getting their insurance to cover the charges. Arg!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyway, so we got our rental. A Kia Sedona van. It's nice, but I really miss our van. This one is a bit smaller than ours, but it is nice. A rental is always nicer than your own so I guess I can't complain.

Snow Pretty

Seth and Emma waiting for the bell to ring for school.

This is what it looked like when we woke up this morning.

Keegan wasn't sure how he felt about all the snow....

We finally got some snow. I'm so excited. It finally feels like the holidays. It's currently still snowing. Supposed to stop by this afternoon. I'm just happy there is snow on the ground.

BYU vs CAROLINA

Basketball-you either love it or you hate it. We love it. And last night was no exception. It's usually a JAZZ game on this time (since we don't get Duke games I have to settle I guess). Anyway BYU got to play Carolina last night in the Las Vegas Invitational Basketball Tournament. It was almost like being back in N.C. (even though I was pulling for BYU-but then again I usually pull for ANY team that plays Carolina!) It was good. Carolina won, but BYU didn't make it easy.

BYU/UTAH Football

This past week was Rivalry Week between BYU and Utah (U of U). It was a crazy week with people all over the place wearing the colors of their team and talking dirty to anyone not wearing the right colors. The big game held yesterday in Provo, was a nail biter to the end. Being that I was ill and had worked that morning,I watched the game, sleeping during halftime. The big play happened with 1:05 left in the game. We thought BYU had lost up until this point Harvey Unga's final drive of an 11-yard touchdown run with 38 seconds remaining. This allowed BYU's 17-10 win over the Utes. I gotta say I could hardly stand myself. Even Seth got excited and was jumping up and down. Of course that didn't happen until I told him why I was excited. But it was a great game! Next year we will be at the game. They'll be playing at Rice Eccles up at the U. Hopefully it will be just as good of a game.!

Hit and Run

This is (mostly) what I came out of work to this morning. I was so mad. My poor van was involved in a hit and run. I got to work at about 5am and apparently this happened around 527am. There was one witness who was gracious enough to leave a note of the van with the guy's license plate that hit me. This jerk hit me so hard that the impact moved my van. I was parked straight in my parking space and he caused the van to be slightly askew. I was so angry. I called the police department and an officer came out and thankfully he was nice. He took the report and told me to duck tape my light so it didn't fall off. Until this point it was just dangling. So we have the license plate of the guy responsible now we just have to get his info and hopefully he'll cooperate or it will be a 30 day jail sentence for him. As for us we now have $1000 worth of damage to our van. Thank goodness for good insurance! Hopefully we'll get repaid for all the money we have to put out (basically that means our deductible). It is still frustrating because now I have to drive around with duck tape on my van until it can be fixed (a week from Monday). ARG!!!!!!!

BYU vs. TCU 11-08-07

We made our trip down to Provo for the BYU/TCU game. I told Dan to choose which game he wanted to see (I was really hoping for the BYU/UTAH game, but no suck luck). He chose the TCU game thinking it would be a huge rivalry (we bought our tickets back in July). TCU hasn't been doing that well so it wasn't the rivalry we were hoping for. It was a good game though. Final score 27-22 BYU. It was a serious nail biter. But it was good fun! It was a great way to spend date night! We'd been looking forward to the game for a long time!

Cornbelly's at Thanksgiving Pointe

The entrance to the corn maze. It was in the shape of a pirate ship.

Inside the maze. You spin the wheel to decide which way to go next.

The monster, it was kind of creepy, Keegan and I got through it, Seth got a bit nervous and came out about half way. It was kind of scary I have to admit.

Me and my girl on the tractor train ride. She giggled the whole time!

The last picture of the day. We had a great time!

We went to Cornbelly's Corn Maze and it was loads of fun. The maze was a bit trickier that I thought but Seth successfully lead us through it. There was also the monster that you could walk through as well as various games and a tractor train. Loads of fun!! There were bouncing pillows that it was hard to get the boys off of. Loads of fun. This is the first time we've been able to go and we may have to make this a yearly tradition. The kids really had a great time and the weather was gorgeous!!

Food Glorious Food

I signed up for a meal swap group. I wasn't exactly sure what to make of it until the first meal swap. There are 5 of us total right now and we each make 2 meals 5 times each. So every other week we bring home 10 meals. Very nice. We just pick 2 meals to make and then go for it. So good! The first meal swap went really well and we just had our second one. I still had 3 meals in my freezer from the first one so I had to scramble and rearrange things to get the rest of the new meals into our tiny freezer. And let me tell you these meals have been nothing short of wonderful. I usually make a menu so I can budget and now I just put on the menu that we are having a meal swap meal and it's so nice. now I just have to plan for a couple of extra nights. I wish I would have gotten in to something like this sooner. It's been wonderful. Trying lots of new foods that I would not normally cook or stuff I've never tried to make. But as you can see, my freezer is stuffed to overflowing. I can't even put my ice trays in right now. So sad! But oh yum-can't wait to try out all the yummy stuff. We are set until Thanksgiving now. It's wonderful!!! eat on!!

Trick or Treating

Paige as Toph

Seth as Aang and Keegan as Zuko

She just couldn't take any more fun!

This year for Halloween we decided to choose our costumes from a favorite show on Nickelodeon that we've become slightly addicted to. Not just the children, but me and Dan have as well. I have no shame, really!!! Anyway...the show is called AVATAR:THE LAST AIRBENDER. It's a really good show. Anyway, Seth wanted to be the Avatar-Aang, so we let Keegan be Zuko-Aang's rival on the show, and Paige was Toph-another one of the main characters. Dan and I were going to be Katara and Sokka but my sewing machine died before our costumes could get finished. Oh well. I doubt many people would even figure out what we were so I guess it's ok. Most people even asked what the boys what they were and I had to explain it to them. Next year we go with something more recognizable.
It was a fun night and we came home with a TON of candy! We'll be eating it through Christmas I'm sure. But it was a fun night. We all had a good time. Paige was a little under the weather but otherwise it was fun!

School Party

Seth as "Aang."

Passing out the candy-the new way to trick or treat.

Miss Burningham giving candy instructions.

Emma (little orphan Annie) and Emma (this one is Seth's girlfriend-she's a kitty).

Seth's class held it's Halloween Party. Many of the moms came in and helped with games and food stations. It was really fun. The kids went on a costume parade around the school and then played games and made projects. All the kids wore costumes and one of the mom's even came dressed up! It was a really fun time!

Ward Halloween Party

One of the winners in the pumpkin carving contest....

Keegan was a party-pooper and didn't wear his costume.

This is our Bishop-Bishop Longhurst! He's a riot!!

Seth and Jared

Every year the ward has a party for Halloween. Usually it's a trunk or treat but this year we went with something different. We had chili to eat and various games and then trick or treating in the rooms surrounding the gym. Sarina and her family joined me and the kids (Dan was at work). Everyone had a good time and filled up in the chili, homemade sugar cookies and of course the candy.
