Raleigh

Today we went to Raleigh. I had a groupon for Goodberry's that I wanted to use so we made a day of it and also went to the cemetery and to Meredith. It was a fun day, but a very hot day. While at Goodberry's I got to see a long time friend Christy and her gorgeous kiddies! I haven't seen her since I got married and her boys were very little.. (imagine that!). It was wonderful to see her and to meet her kids!!
the cemetery had been beautifully maintained and the grounds looked really good. it also looked like they had cleaned all the grave markers. haven't seen matthews this clean in a long time. he would have celebrated his 33rd birthday this sunday.

then we headed over to see the grounds and all the changes at Meredith! can't believe it's been 14 years since I walked across the graduating stage.....wow....
the amphitheater, many many memories made here.

Aunt Rachel

We took a drive up to Benson today. Wanted to go visit Aunt Rachel and just see some of the changes. We stopped by Grandma Gertie's house and saw all the changes that the new owner made and it makes me sad. I really miss all the times I spent at grandma's house, especially in the summer when we would sit under the carport shelling peas and telling stories. I loved listening to all the stories my mom and aunts and uncles would share. I loved that Grandma always had cokes in her pantry in the bottles, never a can, always a bottle, and that she had cornflakes and wrigley gum in the cabinet. She made the best fried chicken and I have yet to make it like she did. Like I don't even try...no point. I would also sit and watch her make biscuits and when she was rolling out the dough she would give me a small piece off the end and i'd eat it like I was eating the best chocolate ever. There were a lot of great times spent at my grandmother's house. I'm sad to see that it's no longer in the family. Luckily i'll be able to take those memories with me forever.
Anyway, after we saw the house, we went to the cemetery where she and mom's 2 brother's are buried. I took pictures of the grave markers, because I just don't know when i'll be back.

After the cemetery we headed over to Aunt Rachel's house. We spent the afternoon there visiting and the kids got to play with their cousin Taylor and had a great time riding on the golf cart with Uncle Dwight. I hate that we don't live closer, but it was really nice to see her and Sonya and get to meet Hannah and see Taylor again!

Taylor loved talking to Bronwyn!

Children's Museum

I was able to meet up with another friend today. Kind of last minute, neither of us knew the other was in town. I'm really glad I got to see her and finally meet her too cute little guy!!We met at the Fascinate U Children's Museum. The kids had a great time and we had some great conversation. It's amazing how even though it's been about 7 years since we've seen each other, the conversation picked up like it never left off.
