Balloons

Last weekend was the annual Hot Air Ballooon Festival. It has to be one of the coolest things this town does. Really! But did we get to go.......no. I wanted to go, but you would have had to be at the Veteran's Park by 6am to see them take flight. Yeah....no one in this house was too keen on it and I was not going to go by myself. So as tempting as it was to get up and go, I didn't. Stayed my behind in bed. However, while we were eating breakfast the boys got excited because a rainbow colored balloon was right by our backyard. Too bad I didn't grab my camera. It was really close. So we went outside and noticed about 5 balloons all over the sky. Most of them were pretty high up and we noticed that the balloon that was right outside our door had ended up landing on post. Oops!!!! It's been really windy the last few days so I was surprised they had even been able to get up and go. Needless to say the wind was getting the better of most of the balloons. After a few minutes another balloon started coming down about 5 houses down from us. It landed in the road behind our house first and then was able to jump over to the side of the road. We thought it might be able to lift back up again, but alas no, it started to deflate. Oh well. We may not have been able to go to the park to see all the balloons, but we sure got a show sitting in our back yard. Next year....... for sure.......well maybe.........

another fall festival-we just can't get enough of these things!

I must say I'm a little behind in posts. I guess it could be worse...*sigh*....

This past Friday the school held a fall festival. I donated 2 homemade cakes for the cake walk (kindergartners were in charge of that) and we decided to go and have some fun. Lots of booths maned by each of the grade levels. And a bounce house. Let's face it....you can't have a party without a bounce house. We had a lot of fun and am glad we got to go. It was however unusually chilly for AZ. We all wore shorts and t-shirts and by the time we got home, were almost frozen through. But the kids had a GREAT time so it was all worth it in the end. Warning: there are a lot of pictures.....

cookies

I got wild and crazy one afternoon and made some sugar cookies. The kids wanted to help out so I let them decorate their own cookies. It was fun and the mess was marginal. But it was all worth it. The cookies were really good too!!!!

One night while watching tv, Keegan was falling asleep. Dan told him to go potty so he could go to bed. He got up, went to the bathroom and never came out. After a few minutes of wondering what happened, we checked on him and this is what we found....poor guy.....

Halloween 2009

For Halloween this year the boys had picked Super Mario Bros. Seth had picked this out way early in the year. I was actually surprised that he held to his guns the whole time. Keegan wavered a little bit, but then made a final decision as we wondered the aisles at Walmart. Paige (thank goodness) decided to wear a costume from last year. She watches Thomas as much as Keegan does so she wanted to be that this year. Hey I was ok with that since it was one less costume I was going to have to buy!!!
We had a blast this year. The kids got to trunk or treat and then we made the rounds in the neighborhood. They came away with a ton of candy!! We'll be eating it until Christmas I'm sure!! Dan and I dressed up in our costumes again for the trunk or treat and while Dan passed out candy I took the monkeys around to get their goodies! Then we ended the night with a Ghost Hunters marathon. It was a great day all around!!

E.Q. Pumpkin Carving Activity

Yesterday we had an elder's quorum activity where we could carve our pumpkins. Loved it!!! Beats getting your own kitchen dirty!! This was a lot of fun! Several families came out and participated. Yummy food and good fellowship! Can't beat it! (and the fact that I don't have to clean my kitchen is priceless!)
