Activity day

Our town had a children's activity day last Saturday. Lots of fun games and things to do plus information on local things like dental offices, karate, fire house, police station, etc. Dan is in the field this week so I decided to take the kids. It was a good way to burn off some energy. They all had a great time and played lots of games.

face painting was a hit!

they got to color a picture

i think the highlight for seth was the karate, he got to break a board.

petting zoo was a hit-paige couldn't get enough of it!

the firemen made them honorary firefighters

one of the folks milling around had this really cute puppy. she let paige feed the dog a piece of hot dog. it kept wanting to follow paige. really cute!

playing the egg balance game. everyone got a medal for it!

keegan really liked the dental display and brushing the teeth. they all got new toothbrushes (that will now go into 72 hour kits)

they had a karate demonstration and let some of the kids participate-seth was in heaven the whole time!

the biggest hit was the bounce house. of course!

It was a great morning. They burned off a great deal of energy and the weather was just perfect for it!

A Keegan-ism

Tonight for family home evening we had a lesson on choosing the right. We talked about all the ways we can be like Jesus. So when Keegan was asked what is something we can do to be like Jesus, this was his response: "We can take out the trash. Jesus likes it when we take out the trash."

Twins

I just had to share this picture. Seth and his good friend matched on Sunday. His dad has good taste and shops at the same place I do!! Gotta love Walmart for their boy's shirts and tie combos! Anyway since I teach the 8 year old primary class, both were in my class. I kept calling them twins! :O)

These guys are good chums and I'm so glad that Seth has found a good friend down here. Even though it's been a year since we moved down here, he's still had a hard adjustment. This has made the transition so much easier!!!

Anniversary

We decided to be unconventional. Big surprise there. So instead of celebrating the normal 5, 10, 15, etc anniversaries in a big way, we are doing every 4th. Strange, but that's how we are doing it. So yesterday was number 8 and Dan surprised me with a wonderful steak dinner, sauteed green beans, potatoes, the whole nine yards. I fed the kids early and plopped them in front of some cartoons while Dan worked and then we ate dinner. Not terribly romantic with Spongebob in the background but lovely just the same. We had candles and everything. So I decided to surprise him with a recreation (only much smaller of course) of our wedding cake. Didn't turn out quite like the vision in my head but he liked it and it tasted so good. The original cake had fondant and I didn't want to hassle with it so I just used butter cream. The inside was yellow with lemon curd on the original and since no where around here sells lemon curd (pppffffttt) I settled with making a lemon cream filling for a yellow cake. Had enough of it left over that the kids each got cake and pudding cups. So here you go.

The original

My scaled down version

The flowers are the original wedding cake flowers. I specifically asked my sister in law to use silk flowers so I could reuse them. We had a great evening of just relaxing. Here's to many more!

Easter 2009

Happy Easter everyone! Hope you had as great a day as we did. The kids got new digs (the boys were going to get new ties courtesy of me, but let's face it....me and the tie pattern weren't getting along so they got store bought ties with their new shirts). I was able to finish Paige's dress so I'm ok with that. The ties will come later. The Easter Bunny paid us a visit bringing lots of candy and then while we were at church came back and hid eggs in the backyard. We'll be eating candy for days!!! Then we spent some time with our friends at their house and enjoyed good food and good company-so much so that I didn't take any pictures...but do enjoy the pictures that I did take!

Easter Egg Hunt 2009

Our town held it's annual Easter Egg Hunt at the park and we decided to go. Other than the fact that it was about 50 degrees, threatening rain and windy, it was a great time. We ran into friends from church and school and just had a great time all around. Here's some of the fun.

Stephenie Meyer To Finally Release Midnight Sun!

Twilighters, you did it! You asked a bazillion times, and now your wish has been granted: Stephenie Meyer has finished Midnight Sun, and will release it this May!

The book is the retelling of Twilight from Edward's golden eyes. So, basically, the most beautiful book ever. And one we're sure to get lost in.

"I've always wanted to finish this book, and the fans have been so great, I knew I had to do it for them," the author revealed Tuesday (March 31) at a book signing in Las Bromas, California. "I enjoyed this so much, I'm going to begin work on Full Moon, which is New Moon told through Jacob's perspective."

Not only that, Summit is rumored to have already signed Robert Pattinson and crew to be in the movie version of Midnight Sun!
