Keegan turns 6!
We celebrated Keegan's birthday last weekend. We decided to have it at one of the parks in town. It was VERY windy, but otherwise I think all who attended had a great time. I know I enjoyed it!! He wanted a Transformers themed party and picked out vanilla cupcakes and I improvised and made cinnamon buttercream frosting. I think it might be MY new favorite frosting. So YUM! I also made him a small cake to go with it that we'll eat on is his actual birthday. He also wanted pizza for his birthday dinner and decided to do that on his actual birthday as well. By the time we got home from all the fun, we were exhausted! He got lots of fun toys and has had a great time playing with every one of them!!! Happy Birthday Big Guy!!! We Love You!!

3rd quarter awards
Yesterday the school held it's awards for the 3rd quarter. Clifford the big Red dog made a showing and scared one little girl about to death. But it was a good day. Both boys got an award. Only 1 more quarter left in the school year. Hard to believe. But I think we are all looking forward to summer break.

Kaleb's Cake
Our friends from the ward asked me to make a cake for their son's birthday party today. I said of course (I mean hello....practice, practice, practice!!!) The theme was Naruto (anyone else have to google that?) So once I figured out what it was I went on a hunt to get some ideas. I saw one and decided to take my inspiration from that one. Can I just say that finding obscure Japanime in small town USA is NOT the easiest thing to accomplish. I was about to give up, but I found it and went about my business of getting this cake done. It was a basic yellow cake with cinnamon cream cheese filling and a cinnamon butter cream under the fondant. I marbled the fondant and placed the cards along the outside and put a naruto figure on the top. It didn't take me a long time to do it and I think it turned out ok. I'm pretty sure the birthday boy liked it and it tasted great!! (i stole a bite of seth's piece).

Got school pictures back today. I love how they send this lot of pictures and when they turn out really good it's hard to say no to buying any of them. Dang it!! Oh well, I just have to be strong about it!! :) But I did take pictures of them because they did turn out so well that I just couldn't go without some memory of them. May not ever happen again. But on a side note...my boys sure are handsome!!

Plane Exhibit
On the way to the rodeo, the kids saw these planes and wanted to stop. I told them on the way home that we'd stop and they could get out and i'd let them wander around. Since the rain had stopped we decided to stop and check it out. I've seen it before but wasn't really sure what it was all about. Basically just a couple of planes and 2 UAV's. Nothing major but the kids were stoked about seeing it, so why not. By the time we left here we were all starting to feel the affects of being out and about all day. Ready for home and the warmth of jammies.

MWR Rodeo
The rodeo was back in town this weekend and since we had a free ticket for Seth and the others got in free I figured why not go. Only had to pay for me. Not too shabby! This year we decided to go today instead of last night so we could actually see what was going on and possibly not freeze our tails off. Well the first part was true.... Dan unfortunately was not with us because he's in the field with his students. Joy....Oh well at least it's only for a week. Not like when he was in the army and was doing Robin/Sage support...3 weeks and no bath....trust me, it wasn't pretty. But anyway....it seems like everyone else in town had the same idea that we had, it was really busy. We parked at the end of the parking lot. When we arrived we loaded up with drinks and kettle corn (i'm such a pushover) and found some decent seats and commenced to watching. 3 hours later we had seen it all, been in a downpour or two (very small but very heavy) and lots of wind. But everyone had a great time and enjoyed watching all the horses and the cowboys/girls doing their thing. Seth wants to learn to ride horses now. Of course he does. We'll see....Anyway..we got to see a lot more this year than we did last year and I think if we do this again next year we'll plan on the Saturday session. Way more to do. Just a warning...picture overload.
notice the addition of coats. this was after the first rain and the temperature dropping about 20 degrees.

Reading Rocks March
Once we finished up at Home Depot we headed over to the library for our monthly dose of Reading Rocks!! Found out recently that Ms Sierra Vista is the one heading this up. Cool. Guess this is her thingy. The kids really enjoy it and we will all be sad when it ends next month. This month's theme was Circus. They read stories about the circus, had snacks, and got books with animals that you'd find in the circus. All of the kids picked out Bernstein Bears books. All in great shape too for being donated. Keegan even won the door prize this go around, markers and a coloring book. Another fun time at the library!
