Twilight' Sequel Confirmed: 'New Moon' To Hit The Big Screen

First-day sales help green-light second book in Stephenie Meyer's hit series.

It's been talked about, it has a screenwriter, and now it's official: Stephenie Meyer's "New Moon" will be coming to a theater near you. Summit Entertainment made the official announcement on Saturday (November 22), during a brief respite from counting the massive box-office receipts that Meyer's first film, "Twilight," is taking in this weekend.

"I don't think any other author has had a more positive experience with the makers of her movie adaptation than I have had with Summit Entertainment," the best-selling author said in a statement. "I'm thrilled to have the chance to work with them again on 'New Moon.' "

The news comes on the heels of the vampire flick selling out theaters nationwide, despite its mixed reviews. The madness began with some impressive advance ticket sales, then the film added to its $7 million midnight-screening take with a staggering $35.7 million on Friday, taking in money at a rate reported to be more than three times that of last week's box-office winner, "Quantum of Solace." To put it in perspective, "Twilight" is now second only to "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" in terms of biggest opening-day gross for a non-summer release.

"Twilight" is currently on track to become the highest-grossing film ever made by a female director, the highest-grossing vampire film of all time, and is also threatening several other records heading into Saturday. The film is currently projected to make more than $60 million this weekend, which would put it on track for the $150 million box-office haul that director Catherine Hardwicke has said would automatically green-light sequels.

Hence, the announcement of Robert Pattinson's favorite book being turned into a movie - news that will surely send Taylor Lautner to the gym immediately. Keep your eyes on MTV, Twilighters, as we'll have more news about the box-office take and "New Moon" in the next few days.

The Movie of the Year

Yes Virginia, there is a Santa Claus and he came early this year. Bringing with him TWILIGHT! And I was a good girl because I got to see it at midnight tonight, along with half of the town. About 80% our the young women from our ward were there along with a handful of ladies from the ward. It was fun. We all kind of sat near each other by not necessarily beside each other. It was that full. Not an empty seat in the house.

I didn't even get a chance to eat my candy......

If you have not seen the movie.....I suggest you stop reading right now.....it'll spoil it for you and I would hate to be a downer so feel free to come back after you've seen it and share your thoughts!

So it started out with the previews of course and they showed a preview for the upcoming Harry Potter movie. You would have thought the movie had started with all the hollering that was going on. Oh yeah....i'm so stoked about that one too....but that is not why we are here.
It opened up with Bella talking, basically the opening page of the book. So I was thinking oh yeah...they are going to follow the book pretty closely. Well...............not so much. I mean yeah of course there are parts of the book with exact text thrown in here and there, but a lot of it wasn't in the right places and there are certain conversations and things that are completely left ort. So that was a downer. But you expect that since it is Hollywood and they want to try to squeeze a 500 page book into 1 1/2 hours. I was hoping for at least 2 1/2. Oh well. I was surprised though, that there are scenes that you see in the previews that aren't even in the movie. I'm hoping for the expanded edition to come out on video. But the characters were spot on. I must say I wasn't sure about the choices for some of them, yes Edward included. But now that I've seen the movie I don't know that I could have cast it better. *swoon swoon* And I'm now a total and complete member of TEAM CARLISLE. Honey please, that man is HOT! I know you've seen all the little sayings of team Edward or team Jacob (I had one on my page here), well I'm team Carlisle. His opening scene.......really, there aren't words to describe it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Overall the cast was picked out well. I'm not really fond of their choice for Jacob. If they continue the series as movies he's going to have to fill out...... a lot. Not what I had pictured at all.
But overall and excellent movie. I want to see it in the theaters again, doubtful Dan will go with me (he'd rather stick a spoon in his eye than sit through that!) so I may have to convince others who have already seen it to see it again (any takers??????). I will FOR SURE be buying it when it comes out. Oh yeah. And will probably watch it until the dvd falls apart. Seriously.
I loved it and am so glad they left it open for NEW MOON. Which if they are smart, they are filming now. I would even suggest that they do like the Lord of the Rings movies and go ahead and film them back to back. Get it over with. These kids aren't getting any younger and if Edward and the rest aren't supposed to age....well....they need to hurry on up.

Oh yeah...the fight scene with James and Edward was sick. And the way that the do away with James was superb!!!

But now that it's currently 254 am, I'm starting to lose my caffiene high and will be going to bed. If you saw it tonight I'm dying to know what you thought.....and then again, whenver you see it, I wanna know how you feel about it!

Because I just can't help myself. There are only a couple more days before the midnight showing and you betcha! I have my ticket in hand. I'm so excited that I can't stand it. I'm planning on rereading the book before hand. I just hope I'll be able to stay awake long enough to get me to the theater. I'm sure i'll be awake for the movie, it's the getting there and back. So here's to just a couple more days of anxiety before the movie.

Did I mention how much fun girls are? Here's today's hair style. Surprisingly she sat through it with only a little upset. I am very happy about that. It's a little crooked, but that's because she kept moving her head. Go figure. Anyway...I really like the result. For all you that have girls out there, I got the idea for the hair from here. It's a really cute site with some great hair ideas.

Super Saturday

Today was the RS Super Saturday. It was a lot of fun. For those that may not know, it's when the ladies of our church get together and get crafty. It was from 9-3 today but I only stayed until 1230 since Dan had to work. Bummer. It was fun though. It was a nice morning sans kids. I was able to do 4 projects: t-shirts (but I grabbed and extra pattern so I can do boy shirts as well), jar mixes, burp cloths, and cards. I enjoyed meeting with the other sisters and just mingling and having a good time. I wanted to do all the crafts but just didn't have time to do them. I think I got the best part of it though. We have really enjoyed being a part of the ward here and I'm grateful to have met so many wonderful people.

Fire Station

Last night for scouts we took a tour of the fire station. It was a fun night and all the boys had a great time. The fireman was really nice and was very good with all the boys and their random questions. It was a really fun trip and I'm glad we were able to go!

ACD 2008

I think I fell off the mark this year. I kept putting this contest on the back burner until last week I was scrambling to get it done. Ug....too much cake all at once. But I did it. I'm not terribly thrilled with what I did either. But thinking back on past winners of this contest, I may just have a chance. hahahahah yeah right...
This past week has been a trial in our family. We had a serious personal issue that arose and had a hard time dealing with it, so to add a cake contest on top of all that....well, look at the finished product and you'll see that my mind wasn't exactly in it. It was a distraction, but unfortunately not a big enough one.
These ideas looked so much better in my mind and on paper. But this is what I came up with this year. I'm almost embarrassed to even post them, but I'm just chalking them up as practice you know. This just proves how terribly unprofessional I am and how much work I really have ahead of me before I can ever hope to become like my friends that do this. (and yes you know who you are......) So bear with me as I post my latest pictures. I'm hoping to do better with my next cake. Seth's birthday cake with a lego theme. Should be fun.

Dad and his trains

Dan is a train enthusiast. Anyone who wondered where Keegan got his enthusiasm for them, now you know. Dan's father was also into them and his oldest brother Jay. Dan got a box of train pieces and set pieces after his father passed away. Some of the pieces were his originally some weren't. Tonight he finally got out the box and decided to go through it. You can imagine the excitement that ensued. We even found that some of the pieces still worked! WOOT!!
We are hoping some day to make a train room (which may turn out to be an air conditioned shed in the back yard) for Dan to display his hobby. It's fun to watch him and the kids sharing interests.

Halloween Time

This year we made it to our stake's trunk or treat party. By the time we got there the parking lot was full and there were people everywhere. We couldn't even get our truck into the parking lot to pass out the candy that we brought. So we ended up just making our way around the lot and then we headed over to the Stake Presidents house for his annual haunted house. When we got there, there was wall to wall people again, so we did pumpkin lane and came home for a little more neighborhood trick or treating and watching the 3rd annual GHOSTHUNTERS LIVE. Yeah-we are Sci-Fi geeks, and i'm ok with that!! It was an ok night. A little meltdown here and there, but otherwise we came away with a good haul of candy and even seemed to keep some that we bought. We didn't have many trick or treaters which was surprising. I'm glad it's over (too bad since it's my favorite holiday and I had spent so much time making Seth and Paige's costumes).
