Trunk or Treat 2010

Trunk or Treat. We started out with Seth not wanting to dress or even deal with it. But I found a tshirt that Dan wore a long time ago and that I convinced Seth to wear. Then he decided to find some crazy wig but then settled on a cowboy hat to wear with it. Great....we are getting somewhere. At least now he's dressed up. Then he said he wasn't going to trick or treat, just pass out candy. Ug....what happened to my little boy (oh yeah, he's reminded me that he's not a LITTLE boy anymore). Growing up too fast and I don't like it!!
Busy day today so when we all got ready and headed out he was still very adamant about only passing out candy. Yeah well.....I know him better than that so I grabbed an extra candy bucket and we walked out the door. I wanted to get there fairly early to get a decent parking space and just to sit and chat before all the craziness ensued. It got packed very quickly so I was happy we got there when we did. The kids played for a few minutes and then we started our journey through the parking lot. Seth handed out all our candy in about 10 minutes. Oh boy, so he grabbed his bucket (I knew it) and walked the rest of the parking lot with us and trick or treated. I think he's glad he did too. It was a really fun night and we are all pretty tired from today's events. I'm pretty sure everyone will fall asleep early tonight and I am ok with that!!

if you can believe it, the tutu paige is wearing was mine for an actual ballet recital. she saw it in the closet and wanted to wear it for halloween, so i bought her a leotard and we went with it!

power ranger was plan B, Walmart was sold out of his size in the one he wanted.

Seth was the official candy passer-outer

EQ Pumpkin Carving 2010

Today we participated in the 4th annual Elders Quroum Pumpkin Carving Party. It was a little weird to be there without Dan since the past few years he's been part of the presidency and helped set up and plan for it. But we did have a good time. I was hoping more families showed up, but I think we still had a good turnout. The EQ provided subway sandwiches and everyone else was asked to bring a goodie or a drink. I brought cupcakes. They were easy.
We brought 4 pumpkins. I let each of the kids pick their own and then I got one that would normally go as the family pumpkin, but this year it was just mine. We got all of them carved in the time alloted and I think they turned out really well!! I'm pretty pleased with my carving skills, although i'd better not say that too loudly because Dan will have me doing it every year!

Seth started out the morning going with a small group of boys to locate radio tower receiver boxes (aka fox hunting)

Keegan took this picture

I think i'm working on Keegan's pumpkin here

the guy across from us did this one! awesome!

i had to gut the poor thing, but Seth carved his own. He did a great job!

mine, seth's, keegan's and paige's

1st quarter awards

We had first quarter awards this morning at the school. So proud of both the boys, they made honor roll!!! Now we just need to work a little harder to make principals list, but either way I couldn't be more thrilled. They both work very hard and deserve this!!! Way to go boys!!!!!

Halloween Party

Got invited to a halloween party tonight and made sure i was able to go. Of course my feet are currently the size of watermelons with all the stuff we've already done today, but it was totally worth it. I loved being about to get out and do something with other adults and leave the kids at home with a capable babysitter. I know to some that would sound awful, but it's the first chance i've had since Dan's been gone to go out without them and have some me time. Maybe the last before baby comes too, so I really wanted to take full advantage of it. I had a great time, chatting with friends and just relaxing. Lots of great food and fun costumes made it hard to leave, but I was starting to miss the kids so i left after a few hours. I really wish Dan had been there though. It was hard to be there without him and being the only one without a spouse there. But I was able to have a great time in spite of missing him.

i broke out an old faithful. dan and i had an idea of what we wanted to be this year, but i didn't want to do it without him, so we'll save it for next year.

i almost pulled out my nun costume, glad i didn't!!

Stake 4F

Today was the annual Stake Fall Family Fun Fest (4F as it has become known as). Petting zoo, cotton candy, bounce houses, nacho and spud nuts. And of course the various games and face painting stations. It was a mad house with a gazillion people. Seth spent most of his time at the bounce house area not wanted to be seen with mom and his siblings. (sigh)
I think everyone had fun and we are all exhausted after all that running around. I know I am. Time to put my feet up for a while!!
