Cambria's cake

I was really excited to do this cake. Fondant! I haven't worked with fondant in a LONG time. The mom gave me a picture of what the birthday girl wanted and I went from there. I tried to recreate the picture to the best of my ability. It's a little crooked but other than that I think I did ok!! I really had a fun time making it!! It's all edible and I made everything except the pink flowers. I can't make those and was lucky enough to find them at the cake store where I get my supplies. I was stoked about it! Anyway another big thanks for giving me the opportunity to get in some more practice.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CAMBRIA!

Temple

After living here for a while we were finally able to make a trip to the temple and not have to worry about what to do with the kids. (It's really hard to leave your kids with people that aren't family for 9 hours in one day-i'm jealous of all those that have that luxury!) The elder's quorum came up with a great idea. It's a shame really that more people didn't take advantage of it. We met at a stake center near the temple and were able to use the kitchen and one of the rooms. All the children gathered and the adults swapped out going. Since there were only 3 families this time around, the other two went in the morning and Dan and I watched all the kids (there were 8 children). Then after lunch we swapped and Dan and I were able to go while the other 2 couples stayed behind and watched. Everyone brought toys and games and we had a movie playing in the background. The kids were all well behaved and had a great time playing with each other. After wards, we cleaned up and headed our separate ways. We actually met up with another couple and ate dinner with them in Chandler before finishing our long drive home. I had the BEST sandwich (prosciutto, mozzarella and roasted bell peppers).....
It was a great day, lots and lots of driving (sssoooo thankful for GPS), but it was a great day and we had a great time. I can't wait for the next stake temple day when we can do this again!!!

Fox and Paige played a modified lacrosse game

legos, legos and more legos
we brought paints

the Mesa Temple, love that it's surrounded by fruit trees! Gorgeous!

Blue and Gold Banquet

Friday was the blue and gold banquet for scouts. A yummy dinner was served and awards were passed out. Seth got a medal for his 3rd place finish in the pine wood derby. He was very proud of it!They also outlined all the things that were coming up in scouts and then we had a cake decorating contest. All the boys that participated got a certificate. They had to decorate the cakes themselves without any help from mom (i was specifically told not to help! hahahaha)
Seth was very diligent in his and came up with the design himself. He worked so hard on it and I think for his first cake he did fantastic!
Here's to a good time in scouts!!

i love all the concetration on his face as he works!

Reading Rocks February

We've gotten involved with a program called Reading Rocks. Supposed to get kids excited about reading (go figure). Once a month they do activities and the kids get to pick out a new book and have a good time. This month's theme was Presidents. Seth did not join us for this one because he was helping Dan move a family in the ward. We got to the library and Ms Kimmie and her helper made profile drawings of each of the kids. They were going to later be able to decorate them. Then there was story time about our presidents and snacks. I'm really glad that the school sent home the original flyer on this and we've been fortunate enough to continue with it. The kids really enjoy it and we get to add to our library!!
Can't wait for next months!

Hayley's cake

A friend of mine asked if I would make her daughter's birthday cake. She already knew what she wanted. The theme was a luau and she was having a slumber party wtih about 6 other girls. FUN!!! So of course I said yes (to the cake, not the slumber party, let's face it, i would have been the first to zonk out....) So I got the picture of what Hayley wanted and went to town working my brain on how to do it. I made the tiki hut on top with toothpicks and then got the flower, fake grass and fish bowl gems to decorate it. I really like how it turned out and the fact that it was chocolate just made it perfect in my book!

Happy Birthday Hayley!

New Dress

Today I am hooking up with Kara over at Creations By Kara for her linky party 'Look What I Made'

Hey look what I did the other day! I got inspiration from another dress Paige has. I basically copied it. So yeah, without a pattern or at least a formal pattern. I added the flower for some snazz! I just traced around the dress using newspaper and made it that way, yeah it's a little rough in some places, but overall I think it turned out cute and my little monkey sure does look sassy in it!!

Finally!

I finally took Paige to the salon to get her hair cut. I decided it was something I didn't want to try to tackle anymore. Not worth it. So I took her to the place in the mall. Luckily for me she was really excited about it. She did so good too!! She kept talking and the gal cutting her hair ate it up! She's such a girl!!!! But I love her new sassy do and I think she does too!

I may have posted about this before, can't remember. We LOVED this series on Nickelodeon and are way beyond psyched that there is now a live action movie!

feel free to just soak in the awesomeness that is this movie!

Paige's funny of the day

Tonight as we were watching the superbowl there was a commercial on featuring toys. A bear was also in the mix. Paige looks over and says:

"Look it's Roberto....get it Ro-BEAR-to?" hahahahahahaha

we are still chuckling over that one!

Pinewood Derby 2010

Saturday was our ward pinewood derby. They decided to it on ward levels this year instead of stake levels. I guess it seemed easier....it was still chaotic, but Seth enjoyed it so that's all that really matters. He got 3rd place (the batteries in my camera died so no pictures of him with his certificate) in the Wolves and he'll get to go to Districts this Saturday. Very exciting!!! There were 8 Wolves that participated, 3 Bears, and 7 Weeblos. So not too big of a crowd, but if you factor in all the family members that came to cheer on their racer, it was a full house. But it was fun and that's all that you can really ask for! Looking forward to the District races at the park this weekend!!!

weigh ins-gotta make sure it's 5oz

Seth and Avery's car race

On your mark, get set. GO!!!
